S.I.T. Students @ Santa Lucia
As we have done almost every semester since 2016, we are once again welcoming a group of S.I.T. students to our reserve for a month of fieldwork and research. This year, four students with very diverse research interests have chosen our field station as the base for their final projects during their semester in Ecuador.
Two of them will be based at our headquarters in Nanegal, where they will investigate the reproductive success of Rubiaceae trees and arthropod populations in nearby coffee plantations. Both are relatively new research topics for our community and could provide valuable foundations for future research activities.
The other two students will be working in the reserve, studying bird vocalizations and changes in the altitudinal distribution of frugivorous birds.
Our commitment is to support these students with our experience, local knowledge, and practical assistance, helping them turn their projects into successful contributions to scientific research in tropical cloud forests.
We are delighted to welcome them to Santa Lucía and look forward to seeing what their research will reveal
